Elevating Indigenous Narratives for Climate Justice

Climate justice is complex and intersectional. Stories told by those who are most impacted by the crisis are critical for both understanding the scope and depth of the crisis, and also designing the most impactful solutions. To support the production of stories from the perspectives of those on the front lines, CJRF provided a $275,000 grant to Doc Society to support Indigenous-led production of innovative and strategic climate justice narratives.

Doc Society recently launched The Climate Story Unit to expand and strengthen their elevation of stories from the frontlines of the climate crisis. CJRF funding supports story production helmed by Indigenous storytellers and impact campaigns led by Indigenous communities. Our funding will also support Climate Story Labs in the Brazilian Amazon and Mexico, and the development of a Climate Story Lab (CSL) Toolbox that includes the insights of Indigenous leadership. The toolbox supports organizations to host their own Climate Story Labs.
