Fellow Funders

Climate change has important implications for funding priorities in many areas of philanthropy, from health to poverty reduction, to human rights, nature conservation. democracy and social entrepreneurship. CJRF is growing an active community of philanthropic funders that includes representatives from many different sectors of philanthropy. Together we collaborate, share lessons and strategies, and support movements for change. Please consider joining us in any or all of the following ways:

  1. Expand your strategic reach. The Climate Justice Resilience Fund currently has two contributing partners: the Oak Foundation and The Kendeda Fund. We welcome additional partners with aligned funding interests. Our strategic framework and flexible institutional arrangements create opportunities for partners with a variety of priorities and investment levels. Please contact us to learn more about how our pooled fund works.

  2. Increase momentum on existing efforts. We actively align our grantmaking with the work of other funders, and have made several joint investments with grantmaking colleagues. For example, our 2018 project grant to IMPACT aligned with a grant from The Christensen Fund, and our 2017 grant to Alaska Institute for Justice was developed in parallel with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s  work.

  3. Collaborate for greater impact. We create opportunities for funders to learn together about climate justice and resilience, and to team up on advocacy and on leveraging public finance. We have co-hosted a number of funder events, including at the Global Climate Action Summit and on the margins of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. Funder events include a wide range of interests and sectors, from water to energy, gender, indigenous rights, and more. Much of this convening work has been in collaboration with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice.
