The Frontline Funds Accelerator (FFA) is an initiative piloting a new way to fund grassroots groups. The FFA recognizes that the people hardest hit by climate change are the most effective at building resilient, sustainable communities, and it aims to put the funding and decision-making power directly in their hands. CJRF held a webinar on January 28, 2021 to share our midterm review highlights with approximately 100 members of its community -- grantees, funders, advisors, board members, and others. The following five themes arose from these discussions.

Leaders from the human rights and climate change communities are joining forces to support communities on the front lines of climate change. Six organizations, including CJRF, have pooled their knowledge resources and funds to provides grants to organizations aiding communities.

A community hub for East African women to lead on solutions which address climate has laid its foundation in the Ugandan town of Tororo. This hub will provide an inclusive space for women to build resilience to the impacts of climate change in their region and around the world.

A network of over 2000 justice defending organizations has come together to share ideas in how to the global health crisis. This group, The Legal Empowerment Network, is training “barefoot lawyers” to stand up for human rights amid the coronavirus pandemic and climate crisis.
