Governance for Climate Resilience: Building on Success

Helping communities adapt to climate change requires extended and multi-faceted support. Building on CJRF’s previous grant to the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), our $204,160 grant supports the Center for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS) to continue developing leadership and capacity in coastal villages in Bangladesh. In partnership with ICCCAD and the Center for Climate Justice – Bangladesh, CNRS will implement land and water restoration activities in the Munshigonj watershed, increase local water and climate stewardship though local advocacy, and use research and lessons from the past project to influence policy with scientific and cultural solutions that lead to coastal resilience.

Why CNRS?

The grant to ICCCAD two years ago has developed a promising model for securing climate adaptation in coastal Bangladesh. The consortium artfully combined technical interventions on water and agriculture with activities to strengthen the capacity of community-based organizations in three villages to raise their voices and demand their rights from local government. This grant offers the opportunity to continue building on that success while momentum is strong.
