Grantmaking by Youth for Youth

Young people around the world face the impacts of climate change, yet they are often excluded from decision-making spaces. Participatory grantmaking can change this. Our two-year, $300,000 grant to the Global Greengrants Fund supports youth-led investments in climate change adaptation, resilience, and mitigation projects. By enabling youth activists to better articulate and enact their goals, this work links youth concerns with larger societal problems and connects local efforts to broader social movements. By sharing lessons learned, challenges, and successes, the organization is engaging additional funders to support this model.

Why Global Greengrants Fund?

The grant supports the Global Greengrants Fund Next Generation Climate Board, an international group of leaders under the age of 32 dedicated to helping youth grow as climate activists. This participatory grantmaking ensures that funding responds to the needs of young people and their communities as they address and adapt to climate change around the world.
