Building Youth Voices in Satkhira, Bangladesh
Human Rights and Environmental Action Development (HEAD) has been working to defend the human rights of marginalized communities in Satkhira District, Bangladesh, since 2008, with the goal to empower rural communities through social mobilization, human rights, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development.
Building on their decade plus working in Satkhira, HEAD will use this $15,000 grant to strengthen youth and community leadership on climate justice through a series of capacity building trainings. Trainings will focus on advocacy, gender-responsive climate-smart adaptation, and disaster risk reduction. HEAD will also create a district-level climate justice network, bringing together youth, NGOs, local government representatives, teachers, and community leaders to foster district-wide collaboration on climate adaptation.
By fostering youth-led initiatives and strengthening local networks, the project envisions communities where young people are central to decision-making, advocacy, and sustainable climate solutions.

Why HEAD?
HEAR was selected for this $15,000 grant by our Bangladesh partner, Samprity Aid Foundation, who chose HEAD from an application process of their Climate Justice Network in Bangladesh. Samprity shared that HEAD’s strength lies in their good recognition and relationships with the local government and other Bangladesh community organizations, collaboration which is valuable for this work.
