Girl Power and the Climate Justice Movement

Young women play a critical role in powering and shaping the climate movement. Our $210,000 grant to MADRE works to lift up more young female voices. MADRE’s work in Kenya and Tanzania focuses on strengthening the climate resilience of Indigenous girls and empowers them to lead research and resilience projects in their community. MADRE and their partners will also support Indigenous girls to raise their voices in international policy, and will produce a set of recommendations on how philanthropy can support girl-led climate justice work.

Why MADRE?

MADRE aims to build girls’ power in the climate justice movement. Instead of merely working on behalf of young girls, MADRE gives them a platform to become leaders in their communities and on the global stage.
