Building More Resilient Communities: Capacity Trainings for Women in Kurigram, Bangladesh

Nari Associate for Revival and Initiative (NARI) is a women-led self-help organization dedicated to gender equality and development in Kurigram District, Bangladesh. Since 2006, NARI has carried out diverse activities to empower marginalized women and promote climate resilience, human rights, and sustainable development. They offer trainings to women-led groups on topics such as women and child rights, disaster risk reducation, climate change, WASH, health, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods.

NARI will use their experience working with women-led groups to lead new trainings for leaders of women-led community-based organizations. These trainings will focus on awareness raising for climate change and climate adaptation, sustainable livelihoods, and climate-smart entrepreneurship.

NARI is committed to reducing women’s vulnerability to climate-induced disasters by enhancing their leadership and building their capacity. Through this initiative, NARI envisions more resilient communities where women play a central role in decision-making, advocacy, and creating sustainable climate-smart solutions.

Why NARI?

NARI was selected by our Bangladesh partner, Samprity Aid Foundation, who chose NARI from an application process of their Climate Justice Network in Bangladesh. Samprity highlighted NARI’s ability to share their own experiences with vulnerability, a powerful testimony that has been effective in raising these issues with government officials and other civil society groups.
