Strengthening Local Resource Management in West Timor, Indonesia

Yayasan Nusa Timor Mandiri (YNTM) is a community-based organization focused on anticipating and mitigating climate change through an ecological approach, particularly the use of eco-enzymes. YNTM integrates education, policy advocacy, alliances, and community support in solving environmental issues. Through environmentally friendly, productive economic activities, YNTM encourages community independence and resilience to the impacts of climate change.

YNTM will use this $15,000 grant to host trainings for smallholder farmers. The trainings will cover techniques for producing and utilizing eco-enzymes for various purposes, such as organic fertilizers, botanical pesticides, and household organic waste processing. YNTM will also provide field mentoring to ensure the knowledge and skills from the trainings are implemented by community members.

These trainings are designed to strengthen group independence in managing local resources. With this approach, YNTM hopes to significantly improve the technical capacity of assisted groups.

2025: $15,000

Why YNTM?

YNTM was selected by our Indonesian partner, CIRMA, who values YNTM’s very practical approach to building community resilience through increased access to fertilizers. CIRMA shared that a shortage of government subsidized fertilizer has created country-wide access concerns for smallholder farmers. As a result, YNTM’s distribution of, and trainings on, eco-enzyme fertilizers are creating more farmer independence and higher crop yields.
