Leaders from the human rights and climate change communities are joining forces to support communities on the front lines of climate change. Six organizations, including CJRF, have pooled their knowledge resources and funds to provides grants to organizations aiding communities.

A community hub for East African women to lead on solutions which address climate has laid its foundation in the Ugandan town of Tororo. This hub will provide an inclusive space for women to build resilience to the impacts of climate change in their region and around the world.

A network of over 2000 justice defending organizations has come together to share ideas in how to the global health crisis. This group, The Legal Empowerment Network, is training “barefoot lawyers” to stand up for human rights amid the coronavirus pandemic and climate crisis.

The community-based adaptation (CBA) conference series has established itself as the leading global, practitioner-focused climate adaptation conference. This year’s CBA will be digital – but it will still have community at the center.

A Kenyan documentary, Thank You for the Rain, has helped to catalyze changed nationally and internationally. The film follows a family of farmers battling the effects of climate change and has become a case study for how a film can spark a global movement.

With thousands of years of environmental observations, Inuit communities have advice for newcomers to help limit harm to the fragile Arctic Ocean as it opens to shipping. We can start by banning high polluting fuels, restricting ballast water that can bring invasive species to the north, and curbing underwater noise.

Peer learning has helped organizations in nations such as India and Kenya learn about climate adaptation and land management. Some farmers and entrepreneurs are having the opportunity to go abroad for the first time to exchange knowledge.
