Bay of Bengal Grants

In Orissa, West Bengal, and Bangladesh, rising seas, melting glaciers, low-lying areas, dense populations, frequent typhoons, and poverty combine to make many communities highly vulnerable.

While not exhaustive, the following activities are a result of CJRF funding in the Bay of Bengal:

• Women and youth in disaster-prone regions of Bangladesh are effectively advocating for water rights and more transparency and accountability of government.

• Bangladeshi activists are ensuring fresh water in publicly owned canals stays available to everyone as sea levels rise.

• Local journalists in the Bay of Bengal are reporting on climate justice stories to influence local, national, and global climate action.
